Last week we completed the marmorino interiors in Hakka Noodle Bar on Clarence Street, just behind the City Hall.
The decor has a Shanghai colonial feel; the scheme contrasts copper leaf columns, antique brass tables and rich wooden furniture with black polished concrete floors and painted brick. The benches are finished with gunmetal-coloured leather.
The wall finish which we produced for Hakka, has a very soft, subtle feel. It just looks like the inside of a shell. Metal powders added to the stucco and wax, combined with an adapted application method, left a wall finish reminiscent of mother-of-pearl.
Hakka opens tomorrow.
